Seminar Friday evening. Selecting bits for specific horses and purposes on Saturday. Horsemanship on Sunday. Dave is a student of Osteopathy with Janek Vluggen and gave several demonstrations of the positive effects of osteopathy on horses. Osteopathy deals with finding and fixing the source of problems in a horse, not just fixing the symptoms. The results are amazing - not only with visible lameness or crookedness issues, but also attitude and general well-being. We need to encourage more vets and chiropractors to investigate how osteopathy can possibly enhance their treatment protocols. KEN SCHMULAND HORSEMANSHIP CALGARY VET COLLEGE BENEFIT CLINIC - April 11, 2009 At our location - Rafter Diamond K Livestock (50542 Range Road 225) One day only. All registration fees will be sent to the Calgary Veterinary College to benefit their Equine research program. This clinic was fun and rider participation was enthusiastic. This gelding would be a real contender in the Part-Arab classes. Standing almost 15.2 hh and still growing. RDK Major Minx (Annabelle) is Canadian Pinto Grand Champion halter horse and High Point Canadian Pinto horse for 2008 RDK Allredebehindbars (Bea) receives her Canadian Pinto Supreme Championship and is High Point Canadian Pinto horse at Open shows during 2008. Thank you to Valerie Harris for all of her work for the Canadian Pinto Association. More volunteers are needed. We again hosted three horsemanship clinics with Ken Schmuland as instructor. Both horses and riders came with a wide range of experience, open minds and a willingness to share - making the clinics informative and interactive. Thank you for the very positive feedback received. RDK Allredebehindbars (Bea) "allrede" earns her American Paint Horse Association Certificates of Recognition in Halter, English Pleasure, Equitation and Western Pleasure at open shows during her first year under saddle. She has every bit as much talent as her father. We have 4 new fillies for sale this year - two minimal chestnut overo paints (RDK Sass E Impression and RDK Class E Lady), one very loud sorrel tovero paint (RDK Sacred Indianna) and one exceptionally well bred red quarter horse (RDK Cricket Parr Bar). With reports back from other mare owners, all the foals were fillies except for two colts and all the foals have white markings except for two. Top that off with a successful delivery rate of 90% of mares bred and we can say the 2007 breeding season was AWESOME!! We hosted a horsemanship clinic with Dave Elliott in April - Dave is a VERY well known Custom Bit & spur maker from southern Alberta. He worked with us to determine which bit works best for our horses and how our horsemanship is affected by our choice of bit. No bucking, rearing or spooking. We attended a horse anatomy clinic in southern Alberta taught by Dr. Deb Bennett from California. The two weekend horsemanship clinics were fun and challenging.
